April 5, 2006

I apologize that I have not kept up this blog as well as I would like. It has been a very busy time. I was not in school today and will not be tomorrow as my son is sick. Here is where we are right now:
  • Religion: We are in Lesson 33 and 34; These lessons deal with the last days of Christ and His resurrection. We will see the conclusion of "Jesus of Nazareth" on Friday and then next week we will spend some time discussing more of the details of His death and resurrection.
  • Language Arts: We are in the process of reviewing Grammar. Today was spend with the finding the subject and verb and tomorrow we will discuss subject and verb agreement. There is an assignment each night for the grammar review. Remember, the outline for the research paper is due on Friday with the paper being due on Wednesday of next week.
  • General Math: Due to my absence we are working on Accelerated Math. We will continue in Chapter 6 on Friday as we continue to work with fractions.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Here are some notes from Tuesday:
  • Religion: Lesson 31 -- End Times
  • Language Arts: DOL Quiz; Review of the Research Process. Be sure to check on your child's progress in the development of his or her research paper. Check Edline for the updated due dates for the different parts of the paper. Tomorrow and Thursday will be work days for the students in order for them to get assistance, if necessary, with the note cards or any other aspect of the process.
  • General Math: Accelerated Math -- We will be working with AM for the remainder of this week.
Keep dry and blessings!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Research Paper updates: With schedule changes and the trip for the 8th grade basketball team, there have been some modifications to due dates for the Research Paper.
              • Note Cards: Before the student begins to write his/her paper, they must have his/her note cards approved. They may do this beginning March 20. This should be complete by March 29.
              • Works Cited: This is due on Tuesday, March 21.
We will be spending the next few days on MLA (Modern Language Association) formatting and notecards. Watch Edline for updates and attachments that will assist your student in completing this project.

General Math: We have completed Chapter 5 by taking the test today. I have not graded the tests yet, but initial observation is very positive.

End of Quarter: The 3rd quarter ends on March 22. Take time to check Edline for any work that you may be able to complete before Monday, March 20. With the quarter ending on Wednesday and the basketball trip, I will need to wrap everything up for the quarter before I leave.

Let me know if you have any questions.

We had a great day with a visit from the Mrs. Lang's preschool students (Green Room). We enjoyed a great story ("Lullabyhullabaloo") that was acted out by our students. That was followed by a short video called "The Garden" with Frog and Toad. We then helped our new preschool friends make a "potted flower". Watch for pictures here in the next few days.
